Writing poetry comes and goes for this writer, with larger blocks of time emerging where it’s gone. The changing of seasons and weather seems to encourage poetry and writing in general to return to this writer. Spooky times call for spooky musings. Enjoy this time of year, and reflect a bit as well.
Spooky bits of poetry in 2023
Beware of looking for the slashing and gnashing type of shook,
whereas instead you should be shivering
over the legal and suited up crook.
The mundane and monotonous is far more terrifying,
than blood packs and bullet blanks crafting a look,
one most foul, fermented, and frothing with misery,
energy sapped worse than speed dating strategy,
Hilarity.
One watches scary movies to get heightened adrenaline,
before checking surroundings gives reassuring evidence.
but it’s not,
it’s setting up the sequel full of far too many chills sans thrills,
rollercoaster diving, remnants left behind from crashes into unending filth.
“The mundane and monotonous is far more terrifying,” Reminds me of a book I like by Neil Gaiman.
Glad I could lead to that memory for you, thanks for commenting! 🙂
Just for reference it was the Forbidden Brides of the Faceless Slaves in the Secret House of Night of Dread Desire.
I’ll have to check that out, thanks for the reference!
This is dope
