A third of the way through NaPoWriMo, poems are hurtling towards readers daily. There’s a lot out there to check out, and a lot of people trying out this challenge for the first time. There really isn’t a right or wrong way to write poetry, so long as you’re pushing yourself to write and doing one’s best attempt at self-expression. Sometimes that inks out fluidly, while other times it’s a rocky road. Effort, not perfection, is the name of the game.
Effort not Perfection
Rarified air isn’t easy to breathe in,
so unlikely to happen chances are slim.
to beef up opportunities going your way,
is to dig in and go through it,
regardless of rust, inactivity, or decay.
effort is everything,
and breeds pathways of growing,
where small steps scale up bigger and bigger dreams.
Dreaming is key,
but a small part of the equation,
elevation is achieved through monotonous chasing,
obsess, overthink, ponder, saunter on,
methodical purpose builds gains over time.
You are the measuring stick,
despite other’s wins being the metric you eye,
zone out distractions and your end goal will be nigh.
