What’s Next (Poem #28, NaPoWriMo 2024)

By Daniel Paiz

Reflection is a nice tool of NaPoWriMo, but sometimes it’s important to also look forward to what’s next. What’s going to be happening the remainder of this year, and how one might execute on those plans. Manifesting those ideas and dreams into reality requires planning, and work towards the realization of them. It takes time, but time is our truest currency in this thing called life, so it might be wise to be more particular with who we decide to utilize it.

What’s Next

Scribbling, jotting down, and scratching out bits and pieces of ideas,

the excitement of it all is causing momentary amnesia,

like what was it I was going to do?

Oh yeah, manifest and create a list of the items that’ll push it through,

it takes encouragement, excitement,

a real sense of longing mixed with learning,

yearning after what one wants but floating it to what one needs,

no anvil attachments.

Practical limitations and common-sense best practices,

are important in certain applications but not from deterring action.

This faction,

of those who want to scale and model the ideal, perfect, no flaws seen project,

but are too ostrich about it all,

instead grounding themselves before ever test run launches.

What’s next is doing the damn thing,

no plans and no actions mean the dream’s only a fantasy.
