Cinquain Flow (Poem #29, NaPoWriMo 2024)

By Daniel Paiz

Trying something new as NaPoWriMo is nearly over, and doing so with something called a cinquain poem. A cinquain poem is five lines long, and each line has a syllable count one must stick to. It starts with two syllables, then four, then six, then eight, and finally ending with two again. Similar to haikus in challenging the poet to be succinct, these poems are geared to tell a short story in the five lines one has to do so. Let’s see how this goes.

Cinquain Flow

New day,

where breeze draws near,

waiting on new chances,

to punch a ticket to what’s next,

press on.
