Observe but Preserve (poetry)

By Daniel Paiz

Sometimes creativity comes from living life and not obsessing with what to write, or what to create and share. Lots of thoughts swirl about, and time and perspective help to settle ideas down a bit. Unless one is under a strict deadline, time is something to cherish rather than avoid.

Enjoy the musings below, and there just might be more writing here sooner than later.

Observe but Preserve

Brevity isn’t something that comes my way,

rambling thoughts depicting all possibilities on display,

all that chatter,

translating ideas between mediums of creative matter,

platters of letters leading to alchemy amongst unimpressed factors,

this is a disaster.

People are reading books,

listening to audiobooks,

and consuming things all day,

yet short snippets of stories and life ignored,

because poetry that isn’t rap makes many dismayed.

Luckily this is rhyming,

or I’d really be in a bind,

minds need rhythm and direction,

instead of a reader following patterns,

seeking to curiously break down one’s decisions of design.

Remember how brevity here is not a thing?

I dare ask several times on your part,

to reread everything.

Granted if you did,

a modicum of kindness was extended by you,

if not?

then revisit all those daily mantras,

morning prayers,

evening reflections spouting helpful actions

that you recite but didn’t really exude.

There’s an exhaustion everywhere,

creatives feel it heavily too.

so marginal requests of audiences for effort also aren’t new.

Perhaps asking for the minimum is an exercise of the deceased,

instead demanding absolute full strides results in

the increased realization of everything.

Writing out one’s observations,

helps one work through what’s really at hand,

or rather,

one has to both,

stay aware of all, and still walk away for brief moments,

quiet solace for a few

helps one better understand.
