Poetry can be a powerful tool via this period of NaPoWriMo to process life’s moments in our personal histories, such as memories. Memories can be of big events or a series of things happening over a short period of time. They can also be eras one lives through. And, they can be a singular instance where whatever happens is very important.
However, it does seem that a good chunk of life is packed with little mundane moments where very little takes place. These are the breaks at work, a walk home, and other nondescript times. Sometimes those uneventful times are actually what one really wants after the strain of work and life and more.
A Moment at Night
A droplet precipitously rolls down along the window,
modestly finding its way amongst its kinfolk,
unknowingly inching closer to its doom.

There’s a chill in the air as one meanders along such scale,
that reminds of popular frightful shows and scary movie tales,
A moon on this night will regale one
with info so subtle,
destinies determined without a chance to re-choose.

Light is only fleeting,
When choosing not to gaze upon,
the countless miniature suns,
surrounding sidewalks low and
porch fronts high.
Stroll along lanes memory
and this one in the moment,
reflection isn’t utilized often,
until someone can’t see the road ahead.
