Choose Your Spoon is a merging of teasing how folks want everything handed to them taste-wise, and reminding people of the before times. Before times meaning when it was less about an algorithm and instead about what sparked something internally. Today’s tools can certainly guide one towards particular taste, there’s no doubt about that.

There is doubt about if someone even realizes what tastes they’re consuming and if they care. References as always are a running theme for NaPoWriMo.

Remember Super Smash Bros,

where one had wide-ranging options for who to select,

numerous settings to plan out melee,

and a glowing night courtesy of fun and dismay?

Making decisions was easy,

because you invested what kind of path to lay.

Now change out the controllers for spoons,

all the options to use that selector,

what a benefactor you are!

Countless rabbit holes to plummet into,

so much to scout and connect via pop culture sinew,

but…

you’d rather go that way?

The automated spoon feeder 5000?

where you stand in line,

sever curiosity and wanting to feed yourself time,

where whatever is touted as the best or most popular,

a harbinger of different and unique ideas you are not.

Forget reading about Loki taking care of his lizard in Buffalo,

forget watching Great Wolf never win a Dragon Star belt,

And all the other segments of stuff not everybody encountered

but enjoyed once they did.

That spoon is set to auto and you’re fienin’ for more.

Too much coastin’ lowering your interest score.

Perhaps wandering around might engage your core,

CLOSE, and OPEN, count as you realize you need new lore.
