“Using One’s Station” is a reminder that each person can make an impact in some way. Little actions add up and the more efforts put in, the better. This NaPoWriMo entry also wanted to remind readers that some folks of global standing have done just that.
Like many global figures, Pope Francis of the Catholic Church wasn’t perfect. His organization also had and still possesses many flaws it seems to not be resolving adequately. However, the pontiff did continually push for climate change to be addressed. Hopefully his passing helps that in some way.
Using One’s Station
Imagine being,
one who uses the office of their papacy,
one of the grandest stations in all the land,
talking about how this blue marble is in trouble,
and yet so many choose to misunderstand.
Folks ignore the obvious,
a message about caring for one’s home,
it’s not about vacuuming or dusting,
but rather protecting vulnerable biomes.
Planting some trees,
turning off some lights,
those might be good starting places, right?
But until the worst,
those always fighting for first companies,
that leave everyone else bloodied in the dirt,
change what they do,
pay more than me and you,
it’s going to be a long shot this marble stays blue.
