Several different stones or gems represent a ninetieth anniversary, and the traditional go to is granite. A longstanding symbol of perseverance and longevity, this is a lifetime moment. Yet, it is also just one of many along the path to this marker.
“Granite through it all” focuses on celebrating the now but also recalling what leads one to this point as NaPoWriMo inches closer to its end.
Granite through it all
Imagine growing up impacted by nationwide hardship,
few pennies,
programs to help out folks for the first time,
not used to dusty, depressive times of no reprieve.
But folks did,
lived, survived, and proceeded along the way,
pushing through a global sequel despite the disarray.
Family grew,
tough times not as renewed,
a chance to breathe and smile and see how things go for a while.
Then growing pains,
distance,
grandkids to revisit certain images,
then life slowed down a bit with the flying by of age.
Time molds and shapes,
our bones, souls, and aches,
to today as things move real slow,
that’s nothing new.
But the journey throughout,
hope to doubt,
ups and downs all around,
make this granite lighter than most ever knew.
