Restful Routines (NaPoWriMo 5/30 for 2026)

By Daniel Paiz

Rest is something that is pretty important yet seems underutilized lately. Trouble falling asleep, issues with allowing oneself to rest, and plenty of other things impact one’s chance to sleep. This particular writer has trouble sometimes primarily due to not taking enough time to unwind and disconnect from the day’s events.

This NaPoWriMo entry focuses on doing just that, and recognizing what might help one feel better.

Restful Routines

Sometimes deep breathes aren’t the answer,

sometimes big sighs, loud rhymes, and bouncy movement fractures,

instead one must take a look at their surroundings,

and accept the cluttered chaos isn’t helping.

//////////////////////////////

Helping is reading a few pages,

ideally topics aloof with drama

but instead, ruminations, chakras, and info on karma.

it doesn’t have to be purely meditative though in its truest sense.

//////////////////////////////

Truest form of rest is relaxing recompense,

recognizing your activity dictates what bedtime relents,

reasoning out routine realizes real-time medicine,

without a single drop or pill rattling the wallet.

//////////////////////////////

Sounds that soothe and enlighten the mood to not pursue,

but to choose vermouth sans whining spirits,

but hear this and accept gently, softly, not costly:

you and your mind can learn to saunter into blissful exultance.
