Wisps of Light (NaPoWriMo 11/30 for 2026)

By Daniel Paiz

Interactions are an important part of life that sometimes get neglected. One gets tired from their labor for money, or from their responsibilities to other beings. It is understandable to need to retreat from the expectations of interconnected life. Poetry is a good outlet to connect as well as to retreat and ponder.

There are times, however, when one is reminded of the helpfulness of connections; slight glimpses of light from these interactions can ignite feelings.

Wisps of Light

Cloudy on and off all day,

sun at times wants to poke through.

Wisps of light flickering on,

from irises of different hues.

Putting out fires can be an ongoing occurrence, this is true,

reminds me of a great speech heard on insta or the ‘tube,

we’re the fire men,

and turning up the heat won’t bother us, that’s such a mood.

Back to the entity before me,

a gentle reminder of how one must go through,

it is a fool’s errand to try the above, around, or below avenue.

Time it will take, but perhaps a journey tempered in a certain hue.
