Extraordinary (Day 30, poem 1/2 for NaPoWriMo 2015)

It is April 30th, and just like that another NaPoWriMo 2015 has come and gone. We have enjoyed the challenge of 30 poems in 30 days, and hope that you have appreciated the journey, and also created some of your own verbal visuals so to speak. The first of our last two poems for NaPoWriMo 2015 is kind of related to what may be coming out in theaters very soon, as well as some other related topics. Enjoy!

There are shadows in the night,

ones that go bump,

ones that make you fear irrationally for honestly no reason,

yes it is the season to worry about the troubles around the world,

but it is also that time,

where what you see on the screen is not what one should model

their heroic ambitions after.

Those who are

extraordinary

consistently take care of what is necessary to take care of

even when it is the absolute last thing they want to do.

Those who are extraordinary

make the small,

necessary

steps towards change and improvement.

The steps that

every film or major story line out there

quickly breezes through

with a

5 years later,

6 months later,

or some other variation of time

that is deemed unimportant to cover

when it comes to the necessary actions of growth.

Extraordinary

is too often when these souls who perform wonderful tasks

are not given the appreciation

admiration

or respect they so truly deserve.

All one can do today to be extraordinary,

is to improve the world around them,

and hope

that the world is just

a tiny bit better

than it was when they arrived.

That’s what our plan is

What’s yours?
