NaPoWriMo 2023 Poem 29: Distractions for $400, Alex

By Daniel Paiz

There used to be a time where boredom was something that wasn’t immediately solved, where someone had to sit with it and ponder. This pondering would lead to creative realizations, movement related to sports or dance or something outside, or at least an epiphany of sorts. Today, it’s a lot harder to really bask in boredom, because everything that can provide momentary entertainment is seconds away.

Distractions can be good, but they can also sap out creative energy. Sidenote, it’s the return of the naani form!

Distractions for $400, Alex

Stare off into the abyss for

An unknown amount of time to ponder,

what’s next,

Find out what you need.
