Altitude: Breathless NaPoWriMo 2016 Day 17

Welcome back on this snow-filled and very cold Sunday. Sometimes, the weather gets to you, and you are once again faced with having to deal with illness that you didn’t expect and certainly did not welcome. Today’s struggle through that is the inspiration for this piece:

Ya know how when you experience something

that is just so awe-inspiring, so wonderful,

and so once-in-a-lifetime kind of deal,

that the whole breathing thing becomes an issue?

This is not one of those times.

Instead, think of the opposite,

where

you have a wall of acidic, burning lava

travelling in the same area where

the nutrients of life

aka

oxygen, which is needed for that whole breathing thing mentioned above.

That’s right!

While it may not be sulfuric

or as deadly as lava,

lacking necessary air while having heartburn is

one of the most evil sentences that someone can be convicted to.

Altitude

this wonderful natural phenomena normally

provides an advantage to those of us

who exist in spite of its pressurized presence.

But

it will leave its mark on you

just like an unexpected April snow storm.

Welcome to Altitude, Catch Ya Breath

is not a phrase uttered just to intimidate foes,

it is a phrase to remember,

when feeling breathless

and you’re not even out on the slopes.

Until 24 hours from now, have a good night.
