It is Tuesday, February 6th, which means that it is time for an update from “Behind The Scenes”. The past five days have been a lot of filming, a decent amount of listening, and a hint of interviewing as well.
Let’s start out with an update from the first band we mentioned last week, Los Mocochetes.
Practice makes perfect, and the Denver-based band had a couple of practices (one private, the other at West high school as part of an event) leading up to their show at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox this past Saturday.
The night was a showcase in who’s rocking out in the Chicano Funk scene, as along with Los Mocochetes, Roka Hueka and The Pink Hawks jammed out to a sold-out venue that was grooving and moving from start to finish.
Here’s just a taste of the night you missed at Ophelia’s this past Saturday:
There’s a LOT more where that came from, including not just concert footage, but practice footage as well. An interview with the band is still to come, but if you like what you’ve heard so far, stick around…you might hear more.
The other band that we spoke about last week, Goat Hill Massacre, sat down with us last night for an interview in the practice space.
A variety of topics were discussed, from touring to their creative process to feeding the band members (a couple in particular apparently eat more than you’d expect!).
The group plans to tour more, and might just be working on new music that they are hoping to get out sometime around the start of summer. So, if you’re looking for new Metal to listen to, you might just be in luck.
Footage from their practices and upcoming shows will be getting captured in the next couple of weeks as well, so brace yourselves for some Metal.
Lastly, it has been hard to nail down interviews with writers who have been covering the Denver music scene; it’s largely due to deadlines and longer form projects that are being worked on.
However, this Friday we’ll be interviewing a writer who has been covering the scene for over a decade, so we are very excited for that.
That’s going to do it for this Tuesday edition of “Behind The Scenes”. Make sure to check back in on Thursday around this time for more updates, and more music!
