Welcome to our second “Catching Up with” interview, the goal is to have these follow-up interviews about once a week.

DJ Lazy Eyez was one of our first interviews, both when we were starting to interview artists AND for our short films that were happening in grad school.

The DJ from Colorado has been busy for quite some time, so we thought we’d check in and see what kind of stuff he’s up to these days.

Catching Up

Cypher Sessions: We last did an interview in 2015. What projects have you worked on since then and how has your career progressed?

DJ Lazy Eyez: Since 2015 I went on an east coast U.S. tour with the ReMINDers on the Thievery Corporation 25th Anniversary Tour. The weekly party I help throw, The Solution, celebrated it’s 11th year anniversary this past February.

Cypher Sessions: What’s the most important lesson you have learned since the last time we spoke?

DJ Lazy Eyez: That the hustle never ends and that there is still so much to learn about doing music and hip-hop. That preparation as a DJ is just as important as ever.

Cypher Sessions: What are your touring plans/booking shows, etc. Or is there something else that’s grabbing your attention right now?

DJ Lazy Eyez: Later this month I’ll finally be performing at Red Rocks with The ReMINDers opening up for Nas, BlackStar, Pusha T, Royce da 5’9, and Brother Ali.

Other than that, I’ll continue to play every Friday night at my weekly party The Solution that I throw with DJ Low Key.

Cypher Sessions: What’s advice you would pass along to artists just starting out in their music careers?

DJ Lazy Eyez: That if you love music, then you’ll do it forever regardless of what happens. If you’re in it for fame or money, then it’s for all the wrong reasons.

Cypher Sessions: What do you plan to do next, who do you want to work with, and what’s the primary goal to accomplish between now and summer of 2019?

DJ Lazy Eyez: I plan on being the best DJ I can be.

Cypher Sessions: Anything else that you want to share/ social media plug?

DJ Lazy Eyez: On social media it is DJ Lazy Eyes or @djlazyeyez.

 

There you have it, DJ Lazy Eyez is a busy guy, playing weekly shows and exciting upcoming concerts that we are very excited for at Red Rocks.
