The final days are ticking down for NaPoWriMo, and it’s always a nice sense of accomplishment as these last poems roll out. There’s also a rhythm that feels natural at this point, and it ideally sticks around as May and other months are approaching fast.

Today’s piece is likely a challenge of some kind that already exists out there, but it’s going to be tackled here as well: adding a word each line to a certain point, and then reducing by one word each line.

Prepare

Prepare

Works towards,

A plan that

Builds up your shortcomings,

While strengthening what’s your best,

Then put to the test all

Of what you’ve worked towards so far.

There will be times you might fall short,

But embrace the challenge of starting again,

Nothing’s earned in a few days,

Repetition is now your friend,

Accept that you can,

Keep growing daily.

You will

Realize.
