Savor (NaPoWriMo 28/30 for 2026)

By Daniel Paiz

There are many events and occurrences happening across the world. People are rushed, harassed, and expected to maintain throughout all of it. There is more provided to the masses to enjoy, but sadly less time to do so.

Today’s poetry reminds folks to savor in as many ways as possible. Such a thing should not be a luxury, as fewer and fewer have opportunities for such things. Take a deep breath, and enjoy what life fleetingly brings.

Savor

A nibble, just a bite,

packed full of surprise and delight,

the seasoning, juices, and textures explode,

or they don’t,

instead so subtle,

aftertaste leaves more of a reaction than what begins,

perhaps it feels fuller, maybe richer,

not the pockets but instead what lingers within.

//////////////////////////////////////

There’s a method to one’s madness,

little additions that control,

lacking feeling, teases misleading,

allow it to simmer in plate or bowl,

the smell of, the eye raises,

presentation even leaves one beguiled,

savor flavor in this fleeting instance,

as enjoyment too faces commandeering.
