Cherish the Reps (NaPoWriMo 30/30 for 2026)

By Daniel Paiz

30 days up, and now 30 days down as April yet again comes to a quicker than expected close. There have been poems, haikus, reflections, and more. There were more poems about life and less about sports (it’s so easy to write about sports though!). This year will always be an impactful one due to events at the start of the year.

Hopefully you found some words that resonated with you, and as always when it comes to creating, cherish the reps.

Cherish the Reps

There are days when you just want to burrow,

there are days when you want to fly away,

nothing dramatic or social media cringeworthy,

just a want for a chance to relax.

But when you tackle what it is that moves you,

motivates your inner being, your soul,

those difficult moments searching for the right words,

fill your bowl and do more than patch holes.

There’s a recognition of when you’ve been in this place before,

subtle hints make surroundings familiar in certain ways,

it’s those reps, those sets that shifted your momentum,

and did more than just keep you engaged.

There’s pleasure in confronting struggle and pain,

there’s a release of tightened muscles and anxiety-riddled you,

releasing energy to recharge necessary hues,

cherish all of it as you build in heart and truth.
