At times NaPoWriMo can really feel like a challenge, or a chore, only because perhaps one might not be in that creative head space. It’s good to acknowledge when that happens, and to assess how one will deal with it. In this instance, it isn’t necessarily something that this writer didn’t want to do, but rather this writer was in a reflective space where sitting and thinking was the order of the evening.
Quiet is a nice thing, it can help to reassess things.
Slippin’
Ay yo I’m slippin’, I’m fallin’, I gots to get up,
sometimes it isn’t the worst thing to sit in the muck,
no grimers permitted, the filth beyond limitless,
wait,
hone in on your situation,
not the world one’s navigating,
ok,
and realize sometimes you’re the watcher,
sometimes the judge and jury,
no hurry for executioning,
retribution isn’t searching for
pencils and dragon’s breath,
instead,
it’s working through that something,
realizing to get the end result,
you’ve wasted a lot of suits and American muscle car sets,
focus,
overthinking could be an issue or an excuse,
postponing till tomorrow,
futuristically uncouth,
no vermouth, no whiskey,
doesn’t matter if they’re enjoyed on the rocks,
hydrate what needs fueling,
otherwise getting split by the ground,
will be one’s constant spawning spot.
